Visit Rewilding Coombeshead – The Nature experience of a lifetime
Rewilding Coombeshead is a pioneering rewilding project in Devon, England, home to maverick rewilder Derek Gow.
Stay in our beautiful shepherds’ huts or camp in our meadows. Take part in our guided wildlife walks and see some of our rewilding helpers such as the beaver, wild pigs , Exmoor ponies and a small herd of gigantic water buffalos, wallowing through the wetland, creating new ponds for amphibians and other wildlife.
We will introduce you to species being bred for reintroduction at our Species Recovery Centre. There you can see creatures such as white storks, wild cats, beavers, water voles adders and harvest mice, and you can learn about their vital roles in our natural environment and how we are helping to replace them. If you have time you can visit or rewilding garden and learn how to improve biodiversity at home, or do one of our self guided walks through the rewilding area.
In the evening cook in our Wild Cat Kitchen use the barbecues or pizza oven, or just relax round the fire, watch our free roaming wild animals from dedicated viewing platforms or take part in organised beaver watching activities.
